چکیده

This study was conducted to determine the occurrence of antimicrobial resistance extended-spectrum cephalosporins (ESC) in Escherichia coli isolates. The isolates were collected from retail meat products Maritime Provinces Canada. Our analyses involved use both selective and traditional culture methods; we also genotype using multiplex polymerase chain reactions. ESC-resistant (ESC-R) E. detected 33 559 samples (5.9%) method, compared with 151 557 (27.1%) method. We recovered more ESC-R poultry beef pork (P < 0.001). Multidrug resistance, ?-lactamase (ESBL), AmpC phenotypes common chicken-derived than other From 98 examined, 76 (77.6%) positive for either ESBL ?-lactamases or both. Among isolates, bla CMY-2 (78.9%), CTXM (46.1%), TEM (21.1%), SHV (1.3%) genes detected. -producing CTXM-1 , CTXM-2 CTXM-9 phylogenetic groups commonly types 0.01). demonstrates ESBL- AmpC-resistance found that significantly improved recovery samples.

Occurrence and characteristics of extended-spectrum-β-lactamase- and AmpC-producing clinical isolates derived from companion animals and horses.

OBJECTIVES To investigate the occurrence and characteristics of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)- and AmpC-producing Enterobacteriaceae isolates in clinical samples of companion animals and horses and compare the results with ESBL/AmpC-producing isolates described in humans. METHODS Between October 2007 and August 2009, 2700 Enterobacteriaceae derived from clinical infections in companion...

Antibiotic-Resistant Extended Spectrum ß-Lactamase- and Plasmid-Mediated AmpC-Producing Enterobacteriaceae Isolated from Retail Food Products and the Pearl River in Guangzhou, China

We conducted a survey in 2015 to evaluate the presence of extended spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)- and plasmid-mediated AmpC-producing Enterobacteriaceae in retail food and water of the Pearl River in Guangzhou, China, as well as their antibiotic resistance profiles. Samples (88 fresh food samples and 43 water samples) from eight different districts were analyzed by direct plating and after enrich...

Extended-Spectrum- -Lactamase, AmpC, and Carbapenemase Issues

Optimal use of microbiology laboratories is essential to combat the spread of multiply antibiotic-resistant pathogens. This is vital for patient care, as advocated by Jarvis in stressing the importance of active detection and isolation to control methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and other resistant hospital-acquired pathogens (17). It is also vital for hospital accreditation in the U...

Occurrence and characteristics of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) producing Enterobacteriaceae in food producing animals, minced meat and raw milk

BACKGROUND The impact of food animals as a possible reservoir for extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) producing Enterobacteriaceae, and the dissemination of such strains into the food production chain need to be assessed. In this study 334 fecal samples from pigs, cattle, chicken and sheep were investigated at slaughter. Additionally, 100 raw milk samples, representing bulk tank milk of 100...
